This week is World Allergy Week! Started by the World Allergy Organization (WAO) with the vision of “bringing together multiple stakeholder groups including physicians, medical educators, patient advocates, policy makers, the general public, and health care authorities for an integrated approach to addressing the needs of patients who suffer from allergic diseases and asthma and those who provide care for them.”

Congratulations to Alvin Zhou for winning the National Nutrition Month Recipe Contest!  His recipe for Heavenly Beet Mac & Cheese, shown here, received the most votes at our dinner sampling.  He received an iPad mini.  Enjoy =)

Congratulations to the 5 individuals whose recipes have been selected to sample on Wednesday, March 26th at John Jay Dining Hall for our annual National Nutrition Month Dinner recipe contest! 

Stop by and sample each of these delicious recipes and vote for your favorite: Moroccan Roasted Beets with Pomegranate Seeds and Balsamic Glaze, Roasted Beets with Goat Cheese & Quinoa, Spiced Beet Pie, Heavenly Beet Macaroni & Cheese, and Pink Cream.  The individual whose recipe has the most votes wins an iPad!

March is National Nutrition Month, and on Wednesday, March 26th, Columbia Dining will host a special dinner featuring some of our healthy and local dishes from 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  

We will also be hosting a National Nutrition Month Recipe Contest where you have the chance to win an iPad!  To enter, please submit one recipe to Kristie Koerner, RD at by February 28th, 2014.  For a healthy twist, the recipe must be a baked item and 25% of the total ingredients should include BEETS.  Five recipes will be selected, prepared, and sampled at the event.  The recipe with the most votes wins!  Contact Kristie if you have any questions.
