Welcome to Kristie’s Course! I’m Kristie Koerner, Registered Dietitian for Columbia University Dining. I created this blog to share information related to health and wellness, as well as share news of what's going on in our Dining halls. Here you will find recipes, health tips, information on Dining events, nutrition initiatives, and more!
Today is the official launch of Green Monday on Columbia University’s campus! What is it, you ask?Green Monday is a global sustainability initiative that was designed to promote green lifestyle choices. It was started in Hong Kong by a Columbia alumnus, and we are the first University in the United States to join the effort.Columbia is focusing on four themes:recycling, food, paper waste reduction, and energy conservation.
In Dining, you can eliminate meat from one meal, helping to reduce your carbon footprint.Pick up a Green Monday bracelet at one of the pop-up events or at the Hartley Hospitality Desk. Wear it on Mondays and enjoy a $.99 regular coffee at Cafe 212!
Welcome back!!! And hello to all of the new students on campus. As you will start to notice, Kristie’s Course tips are positioned throughout the dining halls and on TV screens (they change monthly). One of this month’s tips is about finding a routine - please don’t skip meals!
Today, 4/23/14, is Denim Day. April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month, and today NYC people stand together against sexual violence by wearing denim. For information on other events, go to www.health.columbia.edu/SAAM.
